Yesterday I received an informative and interesting
e-mail - “The Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense.” I’d like to share its thought-provoking message with you……

The Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who
Has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was,
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird catches the worm; Life isn’t always fair; Maybe it was my fault and I’ll take full responsibility for my actions.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend
more than you can earn); reliable strategies (adults, not children,
are in charge); and Golden Rules (’do unto others as you would have others do unto you’).

Common Sense lost ground when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion or a band-aid to a student. It declined even further when fashionistas decided that well dressed women should be size 6 or under, wear less and reveal more.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live after teachers were caught having sex with underage students.

Common Sense was preceded in death
by his parents: Truth and Trust; his wife:Discretion; his daughter:
Responsibility; and his son; Reason.

He is survived by his 3 stepbrothers: I Know My Rights, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I’m A Victim.

Sadly not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

I had a great time today walking to my local library, enjoying two of my favorite activities - reading and walking. I’m a regular visitor to the library and love the amazing variety of books,CD’s and DVD’s I can browse thru and borrow. I love books and like most readers I’ve got my favorite authors (Nelson DeMille, Dan Silva, John Grisham, William Berendt to name a few); my favorite type of books (mysteries, courtroom dramas, spy stories,etc) and there’s something for everyone within the walls of this magical place.

I recommend visiting a library to all my friends. However, if that’s not convenient I suggest going online to a local branch.

I especially believe that children and students as well as adults sign up for a library card and take advantage of all the benefits offered. In my opinion, the library is a perfect example of
the words from the song “The Best Things in Life are Free!”

Wow! This has been a very exciting day!….My first Blog day and also the day I just went on an exciting adventure. My son Joe, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandsons Daniel (5) and Adam(3) invited me to join them and their friends on a visit to the Train Show at the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx,NY.

Of course, I didn’t hesitate to say “Yes!” A day with my family is always a special occasion.
OK….Off we rode to the Show…It was a wonderful experience. So many people…great exhibits of trains riding through beautiful gardens and incredible combinations of greenery and miniature trains in motion. All the children as well as the adults were spellbound by the displays.

There was also the ‘Gingerbread Adventure’ where we walked thru gingerbread land learning all about making a Gingerbread Man and ginger bread cookies as well as actual demonstrations, activities and goodies. The children also climbed large Rock formations. That was the one thing I closed my eyes to and got slightly hysterical about as my grandsons and their friends climbed huge rocks. (I’m sure you understand the stress a grannie can get watching that action…OY!)
After an exhausting but fun day ..It was back home again! I highly recommend this adventure…It’s a great way to spend a day with the family!

Home again…I spoke to my grandson David who just completed this wonderful Blog website.
He was instrumental in suggesting the Blog and in creating the website. The amazing part is he’s just 16 years old…and my hero!! Of course, his dad, my son Marty, who is a computer professional and developed my website is always a great support to David and to all of us. My daughter-in-law Debbie is my greatest supporter - always gives me confidence and encouragement. She will be working along with me to create and develop this exciting project.
